The inaugural Cider Cups took place on Sunday, June 22, at Bent Brook Golf Course in Bessemmer, Alabama. The team of Johnny Dorminey and Chad Gibbs started hot, and found themselves six under after five holes, but faltered down the stretch to finish at 8 under, tied for fourth with Nick Wintermantel and J.T. Hornbuckle. Dallas Bunkley and Bo Morrisey had the Cider Cups in their grasp, but both made 9's on the par 5 16th, to finish one stroke out of a play-off. Jeremy Burns and Kevin Burson finished tied at 10 under with Scott Robinson and Jonathan Middleton. Burns made a clutch 6-foot putt on 18, while Robinson got up and down from over 130 yards to force the play-off. On the second play-off hole both teams had putts to win, but both missed. On the third play-off hole, Burns missed from 4 foot for par, leaving Jonathan Middleton with a two-footer for the win, which he drained. Middleton and Robinson then drank warm apple juice from the Cider Cups. Burns and Burson tied for low-medalist honors with matching 67's.
